General Metal Discussion Thread
#1
This thread is a catch-all for all non-Asian metal bands or topics that don't have a thread or don't warrant one. So if you're uncertain where to post something, just put it in here.

I'll probably move applicable derailments to this thread from now on. Tongue

I edited the title back to its original one. Just being in this sub-forum should signify this is for non-Japanese/Asian bands.

Any western 2017 release discussion will go here.

Maybe you should rename it "General Shitty Metal Discussion."

Well, if we get stuff like Whinersun in here, we may have to. Tongue

It's happening! The new Wintersun album will be called The Forest Seasons. He says it's 100% done and ready to be released.

If you're wondering what happened to Time II, Jari says he doesn't have the proper "resources" (whatever that's supposed to mean) here. Not that I care about Wintersun beyond making fun of them esp. with the whole sauna fiasco, but this album might be better if Jari doesn't waste his time cramming a million synth layers into it.

Betcha its a rushed hackjob to get off their record label.

Hey, if rushed hack job means an album full of short and speedy tracks, that would be an upgrade. I didn't like them because most of the runtime on their albums consist of boring, slow tracks trying to be "epic." For what it's worth, I think Beyond the Dark Sun and Winter Madness are pretty solid songs.

We could get their version of St. Anger too. Tongue

I think this thread should also cover all non-Japanese 2017 metal releases. So the thread in general music I'll probably lock and create a new one for Japanese metal only.

A bit slow here, but here's another Pain of Salvation PV:

I'm a bit surprised I actually didn't mind this. Its pretty close to release and the Japanese pressing is in late February, so I'll probably get that one.

Grim Reaper vocalist Steve Grimmett was rushed to hospital after a show in Ecuador because he contracted a horrible infection in his leg which spread rapidly, forcing them to amputate half of his right leg. Pretty tragic.

Yeah, I read that elsewhere - pretty disturbing. I've always questioned how safe it is touring countries like that.

Yeah it's terrifying really, so he picked up this infection that started in his toe and within just a few hours it went right to his knee, and after a failed operation they had no choice but to amputate. I wouldn't even know how to react if something like that were to happen to me, but Steve is apparently in good spirits laughing and joking around already today. Good on him.
