[Groove/Thrash Metal] Zigoku Quartet (地獄カルテット)

This band is bizarre. Featuring Nov from Aion as well as bass god Masaki, they play something like technical groove/thrash metal (and maybe some power metal too). They're super fun though and anyone familiar with Nov will probably be familiar with his weird vocals.

Great band. Man, one of the bonus DVDs that came with their 2nd (I think) CD was hilarious.

Now you're tempting me to shell out the extra money for that limited edition or whatever it is.

I think the one I got only had a limited edition. At least I didn't see a single CD version.

Just avoid the ones with the songbooks. Packaging looks terrible on those (impossible to store and a shipping nightmare waiting to happen).

I love this band's combination of virtuosity and not taking themselves too seriously. I would love to have their third album on cd, so I can listen to it on the road, but at least they put it online entirely. That's probably my favorite record as well, although I haven't listened to the last one much.
