I wish I knew the details, but when I asked their manager if he was an official member, he said: "We see him as an official member, it's just business stuff".

Hmmm.... Takenori mentions オランダ [Orando/The Netherlands] seven times in this interview. I wonder why Wink

Painkiller posting the Graham Bonnet interview in the Anthem section made me think of this interview with Ron Keel.

For those of you who don't know, Ron Keel sang on the 1997 Saber Tiger album 'Project One', which was also recorded with what was soon to be the rhythm section of the revived Anthem. I don't actually own the album because I'm not a big fan of Keel's voice and Takenori Shimoyama re-recorded the vocals for the entire album for the 'History of the New World' compilation four years later, but it's quite an interesting glimpse on how things work. I enjoy his honesty. Also, labelling Akihito Kinoshita as "the Yngwie Malmsteen of Japan" makes me chuckle. Even then, there were guitarists who sounded a lot more like Malmsteen Smile

Just spoke to Fubito earlier today and he told me the band recently recorded a live show for release as a dvd and 2-cd box set. As soon as I have a tracklist or an album cover, I will post it in the news section. The prospective release is late April.

There will also be an announcement about the Japanese release of the 'Halos And Glare' box set in a few days. That's all I can say for now.

I only just read this.

I have Keel's autobiography - not really because I'm a fan (I'm totally unfamiliar with his music), just because I snap up pretty much any 80s rock bio going, as it's an era that will never be repeated.

I didn't even know who Saber Tiger were at the time I originally read the book (over two years ago, I think) so now this has more significance.

Anyway - he tells the same story in said bio, but expands upon it a little. As he mentions in the interview you linked to he was playing in a country band at the time (and had been for four years), what the interview doesn't say is that he had lost some of his ability to sing rock music, as the country material he was playing had no call for screaming vocals, so he had to go back to his vocal coach.

Akihito Kinoshita also had to cope with the passing away of his father during the recording session.
