[Indie/Art Pop] Itodenwa (イトデンワ)

Randomly blundered into this band. A promising, up-an-coming female-fronted piano-rock band (Japan sure has a lot of these). They have a more melancholy edge than usual. They have a new CD out on Feb 22nd, which I ordered. So I'll post anything relevant on that here.

NatsuMi - piano/vocals
ヒロクサマ - bass
ゆーや - drums

They have some releases that are impossible to get (venue fodder, I assume), so their upcoming MCD is the first readily available release. Anyway, some random PVs:

New PV. Not bad at all.

Going through the new MCD now. Music is pretty nice (and has some technical flourishes at times). Only complaint is the vocals are really pitchy on this thing. I like the first PV in the initial post the most out of their material. This band has promise, but isn't quite there yet. I noticed NatsuMi composes all the music/lyrics (not really shocked and this seems fairly commonplace in this type of music).

This does stir something emotionally in me, which is a major plus. I guess my final evaluation will hinge on whether I can get used to the vocals or not.

[edit] Vocals are definitely raw on this, but I think I'm used to them by now. Suffice to say this CD is growing on me a bit. Fairly bleak album, which I consider a good thing.

Trailer for a new (and free) venue single that I'll never own.
