Power Metal General Discussion

Not a fan (didn't like the vox), but someone else here may like them. They're probably thread-worthy...

Speaking of Aphasia, great to see them recording again these days. How was that latest album, whoever bought it? I never saw too much talk about it post-release. Did they adapt well to this new age of Japanese power metal?

Its been discussed a few times. It wasn't bad. Seemed a bit moodier than usual.

It's a good album, harder than some of their previous releases although let no-one buy it expecting TRUE METAL MAYHEM or anything like that. The new singer is good, I think Luka's better but then I prefer Serafil as a band so it's probably a win win to have Luka in Serafil and Aphasia still coming out with new music. I don't know if the Aphasia album will make my 2017 top 10 but I don't imagine it'll be too far off the mark.

Anatomy - Autopsy

Played this a few times now and it's not at all bad. The Doctor is a serviceable singer, if not the most powerful out there. Sounds like she's reaching just a little on the third track, so maybe not a massive range. And there's definitely some nice soloing in there. Even a bit of innovation on the jazzy second number. Decent enough debut if it becomes a more permanent line-up.
